I recently acquired a new tattoo on my stomach. This was done using a traditional technique used in Japan called Tebori.
This was done by a lovely chap called Marc Pinto. He is an avid
collector of tattoo paraphernalia and ethnographic art, which he proudly
shows off in his studio in Perth. The whole process took about six hours from start to finish. It wasn't as painful as my other tattoos, although there is always an element of pain, and the healing has been very swift. I highly recommend getting this "traditional" style of work done, if only for the experience of trying something without the machine.
Below is Marc in action, just to give you an idea. I may, if I can be bothered, post some pictures of my new piece.
